ICAT Inaugurates Three-Day NuGen Mobility Summit 2019

ICAT International Centre of Automotive Technology Inaugural Three-Day NuGen Mobility Summit 2019 Automotive Technology

The largest automotive technology event in India, NuGen Mobility Summit 2019 focuses on bringing the entire ecosystem of the industry together to share and learn from each other

The International Centre of Automotive Technology (ICAT), Manesar, has inaugurated the NuGen Mobility Summit 2019, which is a three-day conference that is claimed to be the largest automotive technology event in the country so far. Over 120 technical research papers are being presented by automotive technology experts from 15 countries at the event. The NuGen Mobility Summit 2019 being held from 27-29 November, 2019, by ICAT, which is a division of NATRIP Implementation Society (NATIS) under the Department of Heavy Industries, Government of India.

NuGen Mobility Summit 2019 was inaugurated by Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Shipping, in addition to the attendance of senior dignitaries from the industry. Gadkari congratulated ICAT for organising an event on relevant topics of alternate fuel systems and e-mobility among others, and reiterated the importance of combining agricultural sector with the automobile sector in India. He said that bio-diesel can change the fate of the auto industry by decreasing its dependence on fossil fuels, as well as the agricultural base by supporting in production of non-edible oil. Gadkari also assured the automotive industry about the importance being given to it by the government, as well as the ways in which the government is to support them through effective policies.

Additionally, the ICAT NuGen Drive Safe Club mobile app was also launched at the event. The app is an initiative of ICAT NuGen and Drive Smart Drive Safe, which is an NGO on Road Safety to recognise and reward safe driving behaviour. The theme of the NuGen Mobility Summit 2019 has been setup around new-generation topics, including e-mobility, hydrogen mobility, connected vehicles and ITS. The venue also houses an exhibition where over 200 automotive OEMs and component suppliers will display their products. The conference is also hosting live test demonstrations, training sessions, panel discussion and test track demonstrations.

The NuGen Mobility Summit 2019 will see the participation of experts working in major international scientific and research organisations, and testing laboratories from across the globe. They will share their experiences and knowledge related to the development of smart and green technologies, as well as discuss the challenges facing the industry. The purpose of this summit is to meet the needs of OEMs, professionals, researchers, academic experts, students, vehicle system suppliers, test equipment suppliers, quality managers, product planners and equipment developers. SAE members associated with the automotive sector will also form a part of the participants of NuGen Mobility Summit 2019.

Dinesh Tyagi, Director, ICAT said the benefits of the NuGen Mobility Summit 2019 will be found in finding suitable alternative to IC engines, which have been running for about 125 years. ICAT’s highest focus is on developing new technological solutions according to global requirements, and its engineers are doing research in this direction, he added. Tyagi noted that there are multiple challenges to achieve the move towards electric motors over conventional IC engines, but ICAT engineers understand their responsibilities and are working seriously in that direction. ICAT has been set up with an investment of about Rs 1,200 crore by the Government of India to encourage design and development, along with R&D in the country, he further said.
