Wheel hub motors are a promising drive technology for future vehicle generations. They can be used in various types of vehicles, such as hybrid vehicles, electric vehicles, and fuel cell vehicles. However, commercialisation has yet to be achieved. This is due to the difficulty of designing miniaturised motors, while at the same time delivering both large driving torque and a sufficiently high top speed. To meet these requirements, NSK has now developed new wheel hub motors that are being tested in a concept vehicle.
