Who Supplies What To The Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The E-Class from Mercedes-Benz has been one of the most popular luxury sedans from the German car maker in India for the past two decades. In a bid to enhance the brand appeal and opulence quotient of the saloon, Mercedes-Benz has now made the E-Class available in the long wheelbase (LWB) version. This, coupled with a range of engine options and multiple safety systems, makes the new E-Class a formidable contender to the BMW 5-series, Audi A6 and the Jaguar XF.

The E-Class comes in both petrol and diesel engine options. Both the petrol and the diesel carry on with the engines from the previous generation car. The E200 is powered by a 2.0 l turbocharged petrol developing 184 hp and 300 Nm of torque, while the E350d is equipped with a 3.0 l V6 diesel developing 258 hp and 620 Nm of torque. Both the engines send power to the rear wheels via the company's new 9G-Tronic transmission. It comes with a larger ratio range, which allows a reduction in engine speed, thereby providing better performance figures, in real world driving. This further enhances ride comfort and noise levels are significantly lower. The reduced intervals between the gears lead to faster gear changes and enhanced spontaneity and agility.

Air Body Control air suspension is featured for the first time on the new E-Class. The multi-chamber air suspension system works in unison with continuously variable damper control to ensure a very high standard of ride comfort and driving dynamics. The damping system adjusts to the given driving and road conditions at each wheel. At 5,063mm length, the car has its wheelbase extended by 205mm, providing 134mm of legroom for the rear seat occupants. The long-wheelbase sedan pays special attention to rear seat comfort and the rear seats come equipped with backrests that can be electrically reclined. The E-Class gets signature twin LED daytime running lights, coupled with new design alloy wheels, electrical ORVMs with integrated turn lights and the LED tail lamps. In terms of infotainment, the new E-Class features a high-resolution 12.3-inch Mercedes' Comand online infotainment system and a 13-speaker 590W Burmester sound system. The infotainment, climate control and interior lighting can be controlled via a touchpad and also features twin touchpads on the steering and the Mercedes rotary controller dial.
