The 37th FISITA World Automotive Congress, a premier biennial event of global automotive engineers and engineering community to share and discuss about the mobility technologies of the future, is being held in India for the first time since the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d’Ingénieurs des Techniques de l’Automobile (FISITA) – or The International Federation of Automotive Engineering – was set up 70 years back, in 1948.
Organised by FISITA in association with SAEINDIA, the four-day congress is focussed on the theme of ‘Disruptive Technologies for Affordable and Sustainable Mobility,’ and is taking place from 2-5 October, 2018.
The FISITA World Congress has traditionally always been organised in countries where the automotive industry is considered to be mature, and adheres to world-class standards, in terms of engineers and manufacturing. While the event has been organised in Asia before, it has been mostly conducted in traditional automotive markets that have carved out a long-standing automotive excellence reputation. The FISITA World Automotive Congress coming to India only underlines the country’s growing importance in the global automotive landscape.
What’s in store
A range of programmes catering to the automotive engineering community is being planned with representatives from OEMs, Tier 1s, Tier 2s, ancillary industries, engineering service providers and engineering students scheduled to make technical paper presentations.Various plenary sessions, Leaders Forum and other events are being organised as well. In total, over 1,300 technical papers will be presented, while the technology exposition with over 100 exhibitors will showcase advanced technology and products.
The FISITA World Congress will discuss significant research and discoveries in various subjects concerning the automotive industry, regarding the current and future requirements. The main focus areas will be autonomous & connected vehicles; fuels & lubricants; powertrain & emissions; vehicle dynamics; active & passive safety; manufacturing & materials; sustainability; electric & hybrid vehicles; noise & vibration; vehicle concepts; and student congress. This event is expected to serve as a powerful motivating force for the continued growth of the automotive mobility industry and its contributors.
India currently is one of the fastest growing automotive markets in the world; it is the fourth largest market globally, and is expected to become the world’s third largest market by 2020. The organisation of this conference is considered an important landmark for the Indian automotive industry, which is expected to foster partnerships with the global automotive community to meet the emerging mobility needs in an affordable and sustainable manner.
