Show Ground: GARC Exhibits Details About Its Test Facilities


The Global Automotive Research Centre (GARC) is a state-of-the art test centre established by the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India (under NATRiP). Located at Oragadam near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, GARC has been an authorised test agency under Rule 126 of Central Motor Vehicle Rules by
the Ministry of Road transport & Highways (MORTH), Government of India. GARC offers full-fledged R&D and homologation test facilities, including test tracks to certify all categories of vehicles, systems and components as per national and international standards. GARC also has the Centre of Excellence in areas of
field of full vehicle crash, EMI/EMC and Automotive Infotronics Lab to undertake R&D activities.

GARC has already completed planned test tracks at the centre - OEMs, tyre 1 & 2 suppliers and other test agencies are also utilising its facilities. GARC has already
started the process of issuing the CMVR certificate for safety component from July 2018 onwards. The emission certificate facility and the EMI/EMC are in the final stages of commissioning and GARC plans to issue the full vehicle certificate as per CMVR from November 2018 onwards. The advance crash test facility is expected to be completed by June 2019, with the completion of this full-fledged crash test facility. GARC’s focus will be on providing service to industries in the testing, development and R&D space.
