The Auto Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) has announced it is participating for the first time at the Automechanika Birmingham 2017, with 23 component manufacturers showcasing their products and technologies. Automechanika Birmingham 2017 is claimed to be UK’s leading exhibition for the automotive aftermarket and supply chain, and is being organised from 6-8 June, 2017 at NEC, Birmingham, UK.
Automechanika Birmingham has grown by 70 % this year and is hosting over 750 exhibitors who are showcasing latest products and automotive technologies from the aftermarket and supply chain, noted ACMA. The event will also see many seminars covering business dynamics, best practices and technical updates. Additionally, live demonstrations for the aftermarket are also a part of the exhibition.
Some of the leading Indian participants at Automechanika Birmingham 2017 include Jamna Auto Industries Ltd, Lucas TVS, Macas Automotive, NBC Bearings and Simco Auto Ltd. The companies are showcasing capabilities in product categories including springs, motors, brake lining, bearings, auto electricals, engine parts and rubber parts. ACMA noted that it has been able to mobilise the group participation of its members with the support of the Ministry of Commerce & Industries, Government of India.
Rattan Kapur, President, ACMA, said with about £ 71 bn turnover and £ 18.9 bn value added in 2016, the UK automotive industry has become one of the key drivers of its economy. He added that it accounts for 12 % of total UK export of goods and invests £ 4 bn every year in automotive R&D. The current auto component trade between India and UK stands at $ 900 mn, noted Kapur. He said, “With the automotive industry in the UK gaining traction, the show will serve as an ideal platform to further our business linkages and explore newer opportunities.”
