Atlas Copco Launches Oil-injected Screw Compressor

Atlas Copco has launched GA 90+-160 (VSD+), the oil-injected screw compressor range that aims at reducing energy consumption. The new air compressor features smart injection technology is coupled with oil cooled IE4 and IE5 motors that are basically service free. The latest addition can be had in air- and water- cooled versions, with fixed or variable speed drive and optional integrated dryer, stated the company.

The GA 90+-160 (VSD+) compressor gets the new Elektronikon® Touch controller with integrated smart algorithms that further reduces energy consumption. Elektronikon® Touch ensures optimum efficiency through a precise control, low internal pressure drops and an efficient drive train. The portable design offers full access to all components during major overhaul and company engineers have grouped together commonly serviceable parts to allow easy maintenance, thus resulting in reduced service time by up to 50 % against comparable designs, the company claims.

The ES16 central controller has been replaced by the new Optimzer 4.0 central controller. It allows the end-user to view the performance and energy consumption of each machine as well as of the whole system. Moreover, it enables the digital integration of the air compressed system with other intelligent networked devices to improve equipment performance, enhance predictive maintenance and further increase energy efficiency, noted the company. Optimizer 4.0 can also be monitored through a customer’s PC via LAN, a SCADA system or SMARTLINK.

James Elbro, Product Marketing Manager, Atlas Copco said that the latest generation of GA compressors are suitable for the mining industry, metal processing and power plants. “The IP66 drive train offers complete protection from environmental dust and moisture ensuring reliable operation even in the harshest environmental conditions,” he added.
