BMW Group India today launched the petrol variant of its new X3 Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV)- BMW X3 xDrive30i Luxury Line, at Rs 56.90 lakh, ex-showroom. The all-new BMW X3 xDrive30i is being locally-produced at BMW’s plant in Chennai.
The new BMW X3 xDrive30i is powered by the company’s EfficientDynamics family engine that is claimed to offer a more spirited power delivery and spontaneous responsiveness even at low engine speeds. The 2 l, four-cylinder, BMW TwinPower Turbo technology petrol engine delivers a maximum power of 252 hp, with a peak torque of 350 Nm from 1,450 to 4,800 rpm. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic Steptronic sport transmission, available with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
The SAV is equipped with BMW’s xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system, which distributes the engine’s power between the front and rear axle appropriately to suit the driving situation and the terrain. Adaptive suspensions, electronically-controlled Automatic Differential Brakes/locks (ADB-X), extended Dynamic Traction control (DTC), Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control are the other technologies that enhance control of the vehicle.
The new BMW X3 petrol also features EfficientDynamics technologies such as Auto Start-Stop, ECO PRO mode, brake-energy regeneration, electronic power steering and 50:50 weight distribution, among others. The driver also have the ability to use the Driving Experience Control switch to choose between different driving modes - ECOPRO, COMFORT, SPORT and SPORT+, to suit diverse driving conditions.
In terms of safety, the vehicle is offered with six airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Cornering Brake Control (CBC), and electric parking brake with auto hold. It also comes with side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor, ISOFIX child seat mounting and integrated emergency spare wheel under the load floor.
The exterior of the new BMW X3 features a boldly-enhanced double kidney grill, fully-adaptive LED headlights and LED fog lamps featuring a new hexagonal design. The rear features LED tail lights combined with a low-slung roof spoiler and exhaust tail pipes on both sides in chrome. The SAV is offered with automatic tailgate operation, which allows convenient opening and closing of the tailgate. The Luxury Line trim adds accents in the form of chrome radiator grill bars, two-tone under-body protection in frozen grey matt with chrome trim, chrome air-breather and 19-inch light-alloy wheels.
The BMW X3’s interior features a balance of dynamic driver-orientation and luxurious comfort, the company noted. The doors and the centre console feature an embossed ‘X’ logo in chrome, and the interior comes with more space than the previous model. BMW said it has created a relaxed and harmonious lounge atmosphere inside the cabin as a result of noise insulation, adjustable rear seat backrest, rear window sunblind and an enlarged panoramic roof. The interior also features switchable ambient lighting, 550-litre luggage compartment, leather upholstery, instrument panel with contrast stitching and fine-wood trim in poplar grain grey.
The new BMW X3 also comes with a Display Key that allows drivers to be in contact with their car round the clock. Additional equipment include Welcome Light Carpet, rear-view camera with Park Assist, smartphone holder and wireless charging, 12.3-inch multifunction instrument display and a 600 W Harman Kardon surround sound system.

With the launch of the all-new BMW X3 xDrive30i, customers can experience driving pleasure in a refined petrol engine option, he added. Pawah also said this engine spells power and performance with the BMW TwinPower Turbo technology at its core, while the xDrive technology ensures unhindered progress on all types of terrain.
