BMW has launched the new 330i, with prices starting at Rs 42.4 lakh, and has showcased the M760Li xDrive, priced at Rs 2.27 crore in India. While the 330i will be produced locally at BMW’s Chennai plant, the M760Li will be a CBU.
The new 330i will be available in two design schemes, Sport Line and M Sport Edition. It comes equipped with the latest generation BMW TwinPower turbo petrol engine for agile power delivery at low engine speeds. The four-cylinder petrol engines in the BMW 3 Series have been tuned for maximum performance with lower fuel consumption. It produces a maximum power of 252 hp and a maximum torque of 350 Nm at 1450-4,800 rpm. The car accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and can reach a claimed top speed of 250 km/h.
Power to the real wheels comes via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission, which is available with steering wheel paddle shifters. The BMW 330i also comes with a launch control function as standard. BMW claims that this easy-to-operate system helps drivers achieve optimum acceleration under all conditions.
In terms of safety, the vehicle comes with six air bags, ABS with brake assist, dynamic stability control (DSC) including dynamic traction control (DTC), cornering brake control (CBC), side-impact protection, ISOFIX child seat mounting, runflat tyres with reinforced sidewalls, emergency spare wheel, electronic vehicle immobiliser and a crash sensor.
The new BMW M760Li xDrive offers functionalities such as executive drive pro, integral active steering and executive lounge seating as standard. The executive drive pro suspension system is tuned to provide sharper driving dynamics and improved ride comfort. The executive drive pro chassis control system reduces body roll in bends and on bumpy surfaces. Using the Driving Experience Control switch, the driver can choose between different driving modes to suit the driving conditions.
The M Performance comes with a TwinPower twelve-cylinder turbo petrol engine combines improved power with a level of thrust maintained up into the maximum rev ranges. The 6.6 l 12-cylinder engine produces an output of 610 hp and a maximum torque of 800 Nm at 1500-5000 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds to a top speed of 250 km/h.
The M760Li xDrive comes with an eight-speed automatic sport transmission. The transmission features a launch control, ensuring optimum acceleration under all conditions for the driver. The car comes with BMW xDrive permanent all-wheel drive as standard. The compact and low-weight structure of the all-wheel-drive system distributes the engine’s power between the front and rear axle to suit the driving situation and surface. Being equipped with xDrive and dynamic stability control (DSC), the vehicle is tuned to remain directionally stable and distribute drive power flexibly between the two axles for optimum grip and safety.
