Chinese EV giant BYD will supply 50 units of its T3 four wheel cargo vehicles to ETO Motors that has announced to deploy 4000 three-wheeler & four-wheeler BYD e-cargo vehicles over next one year
BYD has partnered with ETO Motors to supply 50 units of T3 four-wheel cargo vehicles. The order is a part of the latter's earlier announced plans to introduce a fleet of 4000 electric three-wheelers & four-wheeler cargo vehicles in the country. Where the three wheeler electric vehicle portfolio will include e-rickshaws, electric-cart,electric-auto (L5M & L5N category) and e-three wheeler cargo, the four wheeler vehicle portfolio will include electric 4W commercial freight /cargo vehicles.
Each of the vehicles will be designed and manufactured with BYD’s motor, motor controllers, power battery and powertrains. The vehicles are expected to service logistic needs of both online as well brick and mortar retailers across 20 cities in India. There has been constant uptick in business looking for reducing carbon footprint across their respective supply chains and electric cargo vehicles prove to be a decent option for sustainable practices.
Ketsu Zhang,Executive Director, BYD India, said logistics segment usage is increasing with improved road infrastructure and increasing consumer demand for retail product that certainly demands companies to have a ready solution for sustainability goals.
Biju Mathews,Chief Executive Officer, ETO Motors, said addition of cargo EVs will help the company service the sustainable supply chain logistic needs of retailers.
