India Poised to Achieve Clean Power Goal of 450GW by 2030: BNEF Report

A report titled 'India's Clean Power Revolution' released by BloombergNEF (BNEF) revealed that India could save over $ 78 bn in power system costs and avoid 2,860 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, if it manages to achieve its clean power goal of 450GW by 2030. The report that was published in collaboration with Bloomberg Philantrophies, elaborated on how the country is poised to attain its clean power objective by 2030 on the back of supportive government policies, openness to investors and the volume of renewables auctioned in recent years. India’s competitive clean energy auction market and impressive clean energy progress can offer lessons learned for economies looking to achieve a green recovery that maximises economic, health, and environmental benefits, the report stated. Kia Motors Ranked Top Brand in J.D. Power IQS

Kia has achieved the top position in the J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS) 2020 in the auto industry. This has been the sixth consecutive year for Kia as being the number one mass market automotive brand and reported 136 problems per 100 vehicles this year. The annual report analysed responses from 87,282 participants with regards to 189 vehicle series across 26 segments. Vehicles were evaluated on driving experience, engine and transmission performance and a broad range of quality issues reported by vehicle owners. READ MORE

Hyundai Sells Over 1 Lakh Venue Fully-Connected SUV In 1 Year

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) today announced that its Venue, claimed to be India’s first fully-connected SUV has sold over 1 lakh units within one year of launch. The Venue has recorded sales of over 97,400 units in India and over 7,400 units in international markets. This has resulted in the Venue surpassing many milestones, placing it well to become an SUV of ‘Many Firsts. It was the highest-selling sub-four-meter compact SUV in CY 2020 in India (Jan-May). Almost 44 % of Venue sales are for the version featuring Hyundai’s Kappa 1 l, T-GDi petrol engine, making it the most popular engine option and showcasing a strong acceptance of Hyundai’s Advanced Global Technology. Of these, over 15,000 units have been sold with the optional seven-speed DCT transmission. In addition, HMIL said over 30,000 customers have opted for Venue variants with the company’s BlueLink Connected Technology. READ MORE

LANXESS To Support Plastics in Automotive Engineering at VDI Congress

Specialty Chemicals Company LANXESS will have several emphases during its appearance at the VDI Congress “Plastics in Automotive Engineering” (PIAE), which is being held virtually due to the Corona pandemic. “Among other things, we will present lightweight solutions based on our Tepex-branded continuous-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites for brake pedals as well as structural components of the vehicle body and high-voltage battery,” says Thomas Malek, Business Development Manager for Tepex Automotive in the High-Performance Materials (HPM) business unit at LANXESS. “We will also be concentrating on blow-moldable and injection-moldable polyamide compounds for tanks and hollow parts for the air management of turbocharged engines”. The highlight of LANXESS’s presentation will be the tank of a BMW Motorrad road machine, which is made from Durethan BC550Z 900116 DUSXBL. The unreinforced and impact-resistant modified polyamide 6 is injection-molded into two half-shells, which are welded to the tank by means of hot plate welding.
