Kia Announces New Platform, Powertrain Details For Next-Gen Sorento

Kia Motors Corporation today revealed details of the new platform and powertrains that will be featured in the next-generation Sorento SUV. Sorento will be the first SUV to be based on Kia’s new platform when production begins later this year. The platform features a compact engine bay structure, shorter overhangs, and a longer wheelbase by 35 mm to 2,815 mm than its predecessor. This enables the vehicle’s stylish new design and on-road posture, as well as its enhanced comfort and handling traits. BorgWarner Supplies Twin Scroll Turbocharger To BMW

BorgWarner has announced that its twin scroll turbochargers are being delivered to the BMW Group for the carmaker’s new 3 l, inline six-cylinder petrol engine. BorgWarner’s twin scroll turbochargers feature enhanced high-temperature performance that is enabled by the use of sophisticated steel alloys. Renesas, Hitachi Develop Advanced Automotive A/D Converter Circuit

Renesas Electronics Corporation and Hitachi today announced a technology collaboration to enable continuous-time digital calibration of a delta-sigma (ΔΣ) modulator and an analogue-to-digital (A/D) converter circuit. Introduced at ISSCC, new circuit development enables continuous-time digital calibration of delta-sigma A/D converter with the world’s first multi-rate LMS algorithm. The new technology has been designed to boost the performance of ΔΣ A/D converters for stable performance under the harsh conditions required for automotive semiconductor devices.

Maxxis Tyres Announces OEM Partnership With Yamaha In 2020

Maxxis India has announced of its partnership with Yamaha Motor as the two-wheeler manufacturer’s OEM partner. Maxxis Tyres will come fitted in the 125 cc, BS 6-compliant scooter range of Yamaha Ray ZR and Fascino. The company has already begun production of these tyres to cater to the requirement for both the range of scooters.

Jaguar Land Rover Unveils Future Of Urban Mobility

Jaguar Land Rover has unveiled its new concept vehicle, called Project Vector, as part of the company’s ‘Destination Zero’ journey. This concept is offering the company’s vision of an autonomous, electric, connected future for urban mobility. Project Vector concept showcases an advanced, flexible, multi-use electric vehicle that is ‘autonomy-ready’. On-road pilot programme of this strategy is planned to begin in Coventry from 2021.

Indian Auto Supply Chain Disruption Could Continue With Coronavirus Persistence

The domestic automotive industry is likely to be negatively-impacted due to the recent outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) across China and neighbouring countries in South-East Asia, noted ICRA Ltd. As per an ICRA note, these countries play a critical role in the automotive supply chain and domestic OEMs source critical components and sub-components including fuel injection pumps, EGR modules, electronic components, turbo chargers, etc. China accounts for 27 % of India’s auto component imports valued at $ 4.8 bn (about Rs 34,000 crore).

Ford Introduces BS 6 Compliant Figo, Freestyle, Aspire Range

Ford has launched the 2020 BS 6 compliant editions of the Figo, Freestyle and Aspire cars. The 2020 Ford Figo is available from a starting price of Rs 5.39 lakh, the 2020 Ford Freestyle has been introduced at Rs 5.89 lakh. The 2020 Ford Aspire will sold at a starting price of Rs 5.99 for the petrol version, while the diesel entry variant focussed for fleet owners is priced at Rs 7.07 lakh. All three models are offered with standard 3-year/100,000 km warranty, and feature six airbags, touchscreen infotainment, embedded navigation and more.
