Hyundai Sets Quality Benchmark With Five JD Power IQS Awards

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) today announced it has received five model-level awards for initial quality in the JD Power 2019 India Initial Quality Study (IQS). The company has been recognised for the highest level of initial quality for its models that include Santro, Elite i20/Active, Verna, Venue, and Creta. Hyundai said initial quality is measured by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the first 2-6 months of ownership, with a lower score reflecting higher quality. BorgWarner Wins Contract To Supply eTurbo For Mass Production

BorgWarner announced that it has secured a contract with a major European OEM to supply its high-performing eTurbo, on a passenger vehicle, marking the company’s first serial production contract for the product, with production slated to begin in 2022. The eTurbo’s performance and energy-usage benefits is claimed to enable boosting vehicle performance, while aiding manufacturers in meeting stringent future global emissions regulations, and improving fuel efficiency. The eTurbo is comprised of a mechanical turbocharger with an electric motor directly coupled to the shaft which can serve as either a motor or a generator. The integrated solution delivers the traditional benefits of a standard turbocharger with the added advantage of electrified boost assistance for superior response, delivering an improvement of 200 % in transient boost response

Honda Two-Wheelers Leads BS 6 Compliance With Sales Crossing 1 Lakh Units

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd (HMSI) announced today that its three BS 6-complaint models of Activa 125, SP 125 and Activa 6G, have cumulatively breached the 1 lakh units sales mark. The company said it is leading the BS 6 transformation in the country, being the first two-wheeler manufacturer to start mass availability of BS 6 models. Since then, Honda continues to lead as only the two-wheeler manufacturer with three BS 6 compliant models already available in the market, it noted.

Tata AutoComp Inks JV With Prestolite Electric For EV Powertrain Solutions

Tata AutoComp Systems has signed a joint venture agreement with Prestolite Electric Beijing, China, to design, engineer, manufacture and supply powertrain solutions for the Indian EV market. The JV will have access to technologies for various powertrain products like motors, controllers as well as integrated drivetrain (integrated motor, inverter and transmission).
