Hyundai Kona EV Reaches Highest Altitude to Set Guinness World Record

Hyundai Kona Electric SUV has achieved Guinness World Record feat, under the ‘Highest Altitude Achieved in Electric Car’ category. The company's first fully Made-in-India electric SUV was driven to an altitude of 5,731 meters to Sawula Pass in Tibet and comfortably broke the previous record of 5,715.28 meters altitude by any electric car. Jaguar Land Rover Develops Shape-Shifting Seat For Added Health Benefits

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced it is developing the seat of the future, which is a shape-shifting system designed to improve customer wellbeing by tackling the health risks of sitting down for too long. The ‘morphable’ seat uses actuators in the seat foam to create constant micro-adjustments that make the brain think the occupant is walking. This seat of the future is being trialled by JLR’s Body Interiors Research division and could be customised to each driver and passenger. READ HERE

Varroc, Ford, McDonald’s Join To Transform Coffee Bean Skin Into Components

Varroc Lighting Systems (VLS), a subsidiary of global Tier I auto component group Varroc Engineering Ltd, has partnered with Ford Motor Company and McDonald’s to convert coffee bean skin into car parts. VLS has produced a headlamp housing moulded from coffee chaff, which is the dried skin of a coffee bean that comes off during the roasting process. This has been carried out for the first time in exterior vehicle lighting industry. Using these recycled materials enables the company to reduce its environmental impact, since the headlamp housing will be 20 % lighter, and correspondingly better for fuel efficiency.

Great Wall Motors Inks Agreement To Purchase GM India Talegaon Plant

Great Wall Motors (GWM) and General Motors (GM) today announced an agreement for the sale of GM India’s Talegaon manufacturing facility, subject to requisite government and regulatory approvals. Under a binding term sheet signed yesterday, the GM India legal entity, which includes the Talegaon facility, will transfer to GWM. GM will provide a separation package and transition support for impacted employees, as well as an orderly transition for partners. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2020.
