Ford Launches All-New Figo At Rs 4.30 Lakh

Ford India launched its all-new Figo hatchback today, with introductory prices starting from Rs 4.30 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The new Ford Figo is available across six variants, with three engine options, and is equipped with driver airbag as standard equipment. The car is also claimed to be feature a number of first-in-segment technologies and equipment. It features Ford’s signature trapezoidal grill up front, along with elongated headlamps.
The all-new Ford Figo is available in three engine options - 1.2 l and 1.5 l Ti-VCT petrol engines, and a 1.5 l TDCi diesel engine. The 1.2 l petrol engine delivers 87 hp of power, while the 1.5 l petrol unit puts out maximum power of 110 hp. The 1.5 l TDCi diesel engine offers a peak power of 99 hp, with a claimed fuel economy of 25.83 Km/l.
While the 1.2 l petrol and 1.5 l diesel variant engines are paired with a five-speed manual transmission, the 1.5 l petrol model has an automatic transmission. The automatic will feature a six-speed PowerShift transmission with advanced dual-clutch system, which Ford backs up with a 10-year/100,000 km warranty. The automatic variant is only available in the Titanium trim, and is claimed to return an ARAI-certified fuel economy of 17km/l.
The new Figo is equipped with smart technologies including the MyFord Dock, SYNC with Ford AppLink and Ford MyKey technology. MyFord Dock is a first-in-class feature that provides drivers a solution for storing, mounting and charging mobile phones, MP3 players and satellite navigation systems, and integrating them into the entertainment system. SYNC with Ford AppLink is Ford’s advanced in-car connectivity system that allows drivers to control their phone, entertainment and apps hands-free using simple voice commands. The Ford MyKey technology in the new Figo enables owners to program the car’s keys with restricted driving modes like increasing seat belt use, limiting vehicle top speeds and regulating audio volume.
The all-new Figo is claimed to offer a number of safety features, with the main one being the first-in-segment offer hatchback to offer the option of six airbags. The body features Ford’s passenger cage made from high-strength steel, and is equipped with the Emergency Assistance feature that uses SYNC and a Bluetooth-paired phone to call emergency responders automatically. This emergency feature also provides information about the vehicle and location, in case of an accident. The new Figo, like other Ford models is fitted with Electronic Power Assisted Steering (EPAS), which provides lighter steering at low speeds and heavier feel at high speeds.
In terms of space, the all-new Ford Figo is claimed to offer best-in-class wheelbase of 2,491 mm, leading to good legroom, knee-room and shoulder-room, the company noted. Ford added that the Figo also comes with class-leading ground clearance of 174 mm. In addition to this, the car offers 20 unique storage spaces specially designed to enhance convenience inside the cabin, and also features fold-flat rear seats for more room.
Nigel Harris, President and Managing Director, Ford India, said the all-new Figo is built on Ford’s latest global platform, and is a value for money package. He added that the new Figo is built to appeal to the Indian consumers who don’t want to compromise on looks, practicality, safety, cutting-edge technology and above all, high fuel efficiency.
