Continental’s intelligent door system has been recognised as a CES 2019 Innovation Award honouree in the Vehicle Intelligence and Self-Driving Technology category. The CES organiser CTA (Consumer Technology Association) announced the honourees during its annual CES Unveiled New York event, an invitation-only tech event that offers a sneak peek of the products and trends expected at the upcoming CES 2019, January 8-11. The CES Innovation award honours important contribution to safe and convenient mobility.
The company said its state-of-the-art technologies such as the intelligent door brake system and the smart autonomous door support convenient opening and closing operations, while stopping vehicle doors from uncontrolled slamming. Further, Continental’s intelligent vehicle door solutions are optimising the relationship between safety and convenience.
Continental said the smart autonomous door system is also a necessary function for automated driving. Driverless vehicles must be able to open and close their doors even without operators or door handles to deal with different practical situations and allow passengers to get in and out conveniently.
Johann Hiebl, Head of Continental Body & Security Business Unit, said the CES Innovation Award is a confirmation as well as an incentive of its developer team. The company is keen to keep increasing convenience and safety for drivers and all other road users with its solutions, he added.
