Honda Acquires Drivemode to Strengthen Connected mobility Products

After setting up its Digital Solution Centre in April 2019, Honda R&D has completed the acquisition of California-based Drivemode Inc to step up its capabilities in developing mobile-based technologies for connected vehicles of the future

Honda R&D Co. Ltd. (Honda R&D) has taken over the entire shareholding of Drivemode Inc, a California-based company to spread its horizons in connected and digital mobility products. Honda R&D and Drivemode have already been collaborating on various aspects under Honda Xcelerator programme since 2015.

Drivemode has been engaged in developing smartphone-based connected services and developing user interface as well as applications along with cloud-based technologies. The R&D subsidiary of Honda has already established its new Digital Solution in April 2019. Moving forward, Drivemode and Digital Solution Centre will work in tandem to speed up value creation in connected mobility services.

Toshihiro Mibe, President & Representative Director, Honda R&D, said both companies will collaborate to develop connected services and leverage innovative software technologies as well as gain experience in technology development for the future. 

Yo Koga, CEO, Drivemode, said the focus has been on developing meaningful software solutions for drivers and innovating mobile-based technologies for connected vehicles.
