Lectra has launched two new solutions for mass production of fabric car seats and interiors – Vector Automotive iP6 and iP9. These new solutions come in as additions to the already existing range of products. The range of solutions offers optimised software application and specially designed consumables that will enable automotive suppliers to attain zero buffer cutting on a wide variety of automotive materials.

The company’s R&D teams have been working on the technology for three years. They have made advancements in hardware components, updated equipment with a new algorithm, specially designed blade to offer users the ability to save significant amounts of material savings leading to cost drop.

The company has developed the Vector Automotive iP series to offer up a cost saving solution as per the present need of the industry. Suppliers are looking to cut costs as OEMs try to bring price of products lower, which has led to the innovation by Lectra.

The solution offers a constant real-time control for the cutting equipment, sensors on the cutting-head camera detect stress and instantly change and adapt their parameters. The new algorithm, that is an add-on to the equipment software pilot, manages common lines in real time to offer the best possible accuracy and continually adjust the blades dimensions. The solutions are being offered with the Vector Dashboard, a cloud-based system that offers users the ability to monitor equipment through key performance indicators.
