Model availability and pricing for the Taycan 4S across the Porsche Middle East and African region will be announced in the first half of 2020.

Luxury sports car manufacturer Porsche has extended its electric sports car offerings with the introduction of the Taycan 4S. The new model has been made available with two battery sizes. The new offering is slated to render impeccable acceleration and tractive power associated with that of a sports car.

Amongst the two battery sizes that have been offered, the performance battery is capable of delivering 530 hp and the performance battery plus can deliver 571 hp. With this introduction the Taycan 4S becomes the new entry-level model in its series.

The electric sports car is offered with a single-deck performance battery that holds a total capacity of 79.2 kWh as standard. The two-deck performance battery plus that is also offered on the Taycan Turbo S and the Taycan Turbo is available as an optional fitment with a total capacity of 93.4 kWh.

In validation, the Taycan 4S can accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in a mere 4.0 s, achieving a top speed of 250 km/h. The range with the standard battery pack is set at 407 kms and 463 kms with the performance battery plus. The range for both battery setups has been tested on the WLTP cycle. The maximum charging capacity (peak) is 225 kW for the standard battery pack and 270 kW for the plus battery pack.

The new Taycan 4S features a permanently excited synchronous machine on the rear axle that has an active length of 130 mm and is exactly80 mm shorter than the corresponding drive component on the Taycan Turbo S and the Taycan Turbo. The sports car also gets a pulse-controlled inverter that is used on the front axle, operating with up to 300 amps. The inverter on the rear axle can operate with up to 600 amps.

The car gets an all-wheel drive with the permanently excited synchronous machines on the front and rear axle as well as a two-speed transmission on the rear axle. Porsche has made us of a centrally networked control system for the Taycan Chassis. This integrated Porsche 4D chassis control will analyse and synchronise all chassis systems in real time. The Taycan 4S will feature an adaptive air suspension with a three-chamber technology that gets an electronic damper control PASM (Porshce Active Suspension Management).

Braking on the model range is facilitated with a six-piston fixed-calliper brake system on the front axle with internally vented cast iron brakes. The disc brake diameter spans 360 mm on the front axle and 358 mm on the rear axle. On the rear axle Porsche has applied a four-pot brake calliper setup. The brake callipers have been painted red.
