WABCO has inked its largest ever long-term contract with Hyundai Motor company in South Korea. Under the terms of the contract, the company will supply its single-piston air disc brake technology MAXX for Hyundai’s new medium duty trucks starting August 2019. WABCO will be the first one to adopt its MAXX19 - the air disc brake technology (ADB) - as a standard across all axles on its medium duty trucks in the South Korean market. With exchangeable wear sensor technology, MAXX19 ADB gets double sealed clamping unit to ensure enhanced brake performance even under extreme conditions, the company stated.
The compactly designed MAXX offers a potential weight reduction by up to 100 kilos with optimized wheel ends and reduced brake noise as compared to conventional drum brakes. Largely developed by using 25 % lesser parts over other ADB suppliers, MAXX enables increased transport payloads and provides enhanced safety, efficiency and easy repair with shorter stopping distances, the company noted.
