ZF Debuts the coPILOT intelligent advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) that will offer enhanced safety and driving comfort opportunities. Using the power of AI and equipped with a comprehensive sensor set, vehicles will be able to perform various automated driving functions.
The coPILOT system can be operated with voice commands and has been designed to recognise traffic conditions, sense vehicle handling and monitor the driver, assisting in pre-empting hazardous situations through active control interventions. The ZF coPILOT is powered by ZF ProAI central computer and NVIDIA DRIVE platform. The product has been designed for mass production onward from 2021.
The ZF coPILOT demonstration vehicle will be presented for the first time at Auto Shanghai, displaying the functional scope and relative comfort and safety benefits for drivers. The system also features advanced cruise control with active steering assistance and lane keeping aid. Further it can proactively change lanes, pass and merge. Further, the system can continuously analyse surroundings and recognise pedestrians, oncoming traffic and intersections.
The sensor set in the demonstration vehicle comprises of a front radar, four comer radars and a total of eight cameras. Two cameras are directed facing forward and one backwards. Two have been integrated into each side mirror and one monitors the driver.
