Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd have started accepting bookings for the 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R and CBR-1000RR-R SP at all premium BigWing showrooms. Carrying engine and chassis technology elements from the RC213V-S superbike, the 2020 Fireblade is several steps ahead from its predecessor in terms of performance and electronics package. The 1000cc in-line four-cylinder engine develops 217.5 PS of maximum power at 14,500 rpm and 113 Nm peak torque at 12,500 rpm. The significant power boost against its predecessor puts it in the same class as other competitive litre class sportbikes, where it was earlier lacking. Pistons are forged out of aluminium, as used in the RC213V, and are now lighter by almost 5 percent.

Throttle-By-Wire has been upgraded and offers a quicker response, and it comes with three default riding modes to alter power, engine braking and wheelie control.  Additionally, Slip Rate Control is able to manage moderate levels of rapid wheel spin to strengthen traction. new Fireblade comes equipped with a larger and higher resolution full-colour 5-inch high-resolution TFT instrument screen. The muffler has been developed jointly with Akrapovic. Made out of titanium for lightness, the design also contributes to the bike’s mass centralisation. A special valve in the exhaust helps boost torque at lower revs and increase horsepower at higher rpm. The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade is equipped with winglets which effectively generate downforce at track speeds. Three wings are installed in each of the right and left ducts in order to address downforces.

The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade uses a light-weight aluminium frame with 2mm thick wall sections. The Fireblade SP additionally gets second-generation Ohlins Smart Electronic Control (S-EC) suspension and user interface, New Brembo Stylema brake callipers- 330mm discs with 2-level ABS and a quick shifter. Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. mentioned “By introducing the best models from Honda’s global line-up, we have proved our strong desire to take our racing DNA in India to another level. Legendary Fireblade has been synonymous for perfect handling, balance and sheer riding enjoyment for last 28 years".
