The all-new premium Activa 125 BSVI combines numerous technologies to make the engine more efficient
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd (HMSI) today launched the new BS VI-compliant Activa 125 automatic scooter much ahead of April 2020 deadline, with prices starting at Rs 67,490, ex-showroom Delhi. The new Activa 125 BSVI is available in three variants- Standard, Alloy and Deluxe. The scooter has been developed with as many as 26 new patent applications, the company noted. The company has priced the Alloy and Deluxe variants of the Activa 125 BSVI at Rs 70,990 and Rs 74,490, respectively, both prices ex-showroom Delhi.
The Honda Activa 125 BSVI is powered by a new Bharat Stage VI-compliant 125 cc PGM-FI HET (Honda Eco Technology) engine, boosted by Enhanced Smart Power (eSP). The eSP technology is a performance accelerator to the HET engine, which optimises energy output by maximising efficient combustion and minimising friction with a silent start, and smooth eco-friendly engine.
The eSP technology is an integration of the silent starter system, programmed fuel injection (PGM-FI), improvised tumble flow technology, friction reduction and improved fuel economy. The Unique Honda ACG starter enables starting the engine jolt free via the same AC generator used to generate current and charge the battery while riding. This eliminates the need for a conventional starter motor, thereby cutting out gear meshing noises.
The ACG starter also ensures comfortable frequent operation of Idling Stop System, which is another first for Honda models in India, the company said. The Idling Stop System automatically switches the engine off at the traffic light and other brief stops, eliminating unnecessary fuel consumption and resulting in lesser emission. Engine can easily be re-started with a simple twist of the throttle.
Meanwhile, the PGM-FI technology injects the right amount of fuel in the cylinder, based on specific engine data and constant feedback from the sensors, HMSI noted. It added that this results in smooth and linear power output throughout. The company has developed the world’s first tumble flow technology through integrated die-casting process, which leads to combustion improvisation without adding additional components.
The scooter’s offset cylinder, and compact weight crankshaft and piston reduce overall engine friction, along with optimised weight resulting in improved fuel efficiency. Furthermore, HMSI said the fuel economy of the new Activa 125 BSVI has increased by 13 % due to all the technologies featured in the new engine.
The new Active 125 BSVI features a new digital analogue meter with Advanced Information such as real-time informatics including range, average fuel efficiency and current fuel efficiency. The meter displays details like total trip, clock, ECO indicator and service due indicator, along with an On-Board Diagnostic feature of malfunction light. In terms of visual appearance, the scooter comes with a full-LED headlamp and restyled LED position lamps.
The scooter features the company’s Combi-Brake System (CBS) with equaliser and three-step adjustable rear suspension. An industry-first offering from HMSI will be a special 6-year warranty package (3 years standard + 3 years optional extended warranty) on the Activa 125 BSVI.
Minoru Kato, President, CEO and Managing Director, HMSI, said that in in line with its global vision to lead advancement of mobility, innovation forms the very core of the company’s DNA. With the new Activa 125 BSVI, HMSI has taken a leap ahead in the industry, leading the next revolution powered by superior technology, he added.
The company is committed to the government’s policies in encouraging a pollution-free environment, noted Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, HMSI. He said the new Activa 125 BSVI loaded with Honda’s superior technology and industry-first-features brings in ‘#aQuietRevolution.’
