Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) recently announced the launch of two variants of its refreshed fifth-generation Verna sedan with a new 1.4 l Kappa Dual VTVT petrol engine. The Verna with the new 1.4 l petrol engine will be offered in two trims - E and EX, with six-speed manual transmission option. The E variant will be offered at Rs 7.80 lakh and the EX variant at Rs 9.10 lakh, both prices ex-showroom Delhi. The company has said the Verna has been offered with this new petrol engine to provide customers with the appropriate combination of performance and fuel efficiency.
The new 1.4 l, Kappa Dual VTVT petrol engine from Hyundai delivers a power output of about 99 hp at 6,000 rpm, with peak torque of 132 Nm at 4,000 rpm. The power ratings are lower than that of the existing 1.6 Gamma petrol engine that puts out 123 hp of power and 151 Nm of torque. The fuel efficiency of the new variant is said to have been improved by 8 % to return 19.1 km/l.
Rakesh Srivastava, Director, Sales and Marketing, HMIL, said the Verna is a super sedan and has established its supremacy in the market since its launch in August, 2017. The Verna with 1.4 l petrol engine is the perfect combination of performance and fuel efficiency, and showcases Hyundai’s commitment to provide products based on customers aspirations, he added. Srivastava also said this addition is sure to strengthen the Verna’s popularity and offer the customers a wider option to own and experience the sedan.
