International Automotive Components (IAC) has announced the inauguration its new manufacturing plant in Manesar, Haryana, thereby enhancing its manufacturing and engineering capabilities in the Indian market. The new 5,574 sq m Manesar plant consolidates two older operations in near proximity into one manufacturing location. IAC has invested over $ 2 mn (about Rs 13.7 crore) in the modernisation of the equipment and facility, which will employ approximately 220 people.
The new IAC Manesar facility will produce vehicle headliners, centre console systems and instrument panel components. It will also provide expanded manufacturing and engineering support to domestic and global OEM customers in the New Delhi automotive region.
IAC’s new plant is the second location opened by the company in India in the past 13 months. In June 2017, a regional and global engineering centre was established in Pune to focus on application development engineering to support the vehicle interior needs of domestic and global OEM customer programs. With this facility now, IAC has five locations throughout India, and 18 design, technical and commercial centres around the world.
Gajanan Gandhe, Senior Vice-President, Asia Operations, IAC, said the company is committed to investing in India and creating a meaningful presence near its major automotive centres. The new facility in Manesar will help IAC better serve current customers’ needs and offer regional advanced manufacturing and engineering capabilities for next-generation vehicle interiors, he added.
