FCA has launched the next generation Jeep Wrangler in India. The icon five-door SUV has been introduced to the country at Rs 63.94 lakh (all India). The new Jeep Wrangler is lighter, longer, wider and taller than its predecessor. It gets new safety features, an in-line 4-cylinder 2.0 l tubro petrol engine with a new 8-speed automatic transmission.
The new Jeep Wrangler is being offered across 10 Jeep Destination Stores in India. The Jeep Wrangler retains traits from its original make, it gets the iconic seven slot front grille, trapezoidal wheel arches, round headlamps, square tail lamps, body-on-frame construction, right-angled body geometry, full-frame removable doors and roof, fold down windshield, high ground clearance and jeep 4x4 hardware.
The new Jeep Wrangler is longer than the outgoing model by nearly 130 mm, wider by 17 mm and taller by 9 mm. The SUV gets an extra wheelbase of 61 mm. The 2.0 l turbo petrol engine produces 268 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Jeep is also offering an engine start/stop function, electric power assist, extended fuel shut-off and a smart transmission shift management system.
The Jeep Wrangler also comes with Jeep’s SelecTrac 4WD system that can be engaged full time in 4 H (Four Wheel Drive – High). In terms of safety the vehicle gets revers parking cameras and sensors, electronic stability control, roll over mitigation, ABS with brake assist, traction control, multi-stage airbags and more.
