Kia Motors today announced the name of its upcoming mid-SUV as Kia Seltos. The Kia Seltos is based on the company’s SP2i concept shown at the 2018 Auto Expo, and is claimed to bring sophistication and never-before seen attention to details and design in the mid-SUV segment. The name ‘Seltos’ is inspired by Greek mythology and the legend of ‘Celtos’ the son of Hercules, the company noted. The Kia Seltos is said to combine the practicality of a mid-SUV with the capabilities of a traditional SUV in a compact package, without compromises. The Seltos is set to have its global premiere in India on 20 June, 2019, and will be launched in the second half of 2019.
The company had recently revealed interior design renderings expected to be featured in the Seltos mid-sized SUV, which due to be revealed this summer. The Kia mid-sized SUV is said to have an interior that makes a bold design statement, with a cabin characterised by broad, sweeping shapes and sophisticated technical details. The Seltos is also expected to come equipped with a range of connected technologies to maximize convenience, comfort and ease of use.
Kia also noted that the Seltos offers sophisticated exterior design with distinctive details, such as its long hood, a strong character line on the front bumper, and sharp lines pressed into the bodywork. It also features a robust shoulder line matched with a glasshouse tapered towards the rear of the car, which lends the Seltos a distinctive and refined identity.
Manohar Bhat, Head - Marketing and Sales, Kia Motors India, said the Seltos is all set to redefine the mid-SUV car segment with its eye-catching looks, exclusive segment first features and athletic design. Kia has spent a lot of time in perfecting the car to suit the taste of the Indian customers, he added. Bhat noted that the vehicle very closely matches the SP concept showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.
