MSIL to export S-Presso to international markets including parts of Asia, Latin America, and Africa
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) announced today that it has commenced exports of its S-Presso SUV-styled hatchback to overseas markets. Consignments of the S-Presso, conceptualised and designed in India for India and the world, have left for markets including parts of Asia, Latin America and Africa regions.
The S-Presso is based on MSIL’s fifth-generation Heartect K platform and has been developed using Suzuki’s global development processes in Japan. It is powered by 1 l, three-cylinder, BS 6 compliant K10B petrol engine that churns out 67 hp of power and 90 Nm of torque. Maruti Suzuki is offering the S-Presso with two transmission options – five-speed manual transmission and Auto Gear Shift (AGS) automated manual transmission. The company has a claimed fuel economy of over 21 km/l, with safety features including offset side crash, driver airbag, ABS with EBD, high-speed warning alert, reverse parking sensors, seatbelt pretensioners as well as steering mounted controls.
Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, said S-Presso is a true symbol of Make in India. The car stands testament to MSIL’s commitment to offering best in design, technology, and safety to customers both locally and globally, he added. Ayukawa noted that S-PRESSO is widely appreciated by customers in India and the company is confident of its acceptance in international markets. “With S-PRESSO we are looking to make in-roads in many new markets,” he said.
The S-Presso reached the list of country’s top-10 bestselling cars within a month of its launch in India. Maruti Suzuki has sold over 35,000 units of S-Presso since its launch in September 2019, in the domestic market.
