Maruti Suzuki holds 30 % market share in the mid-sized sedan segment; Automatic variants contribute to nearly 17 % of total volume
India's top-selling car brand Maruti Suzuki has achieved yet another landmark with its Ciaz premium sedan clocking sales of 2.7 lakh units in five years. The carmaker has reportedly stated that its top-spec Alpha trim has contributed to over 54 % of its sales volumes.
Further, the company stated that its popular Nexa Blue colour has been the top pick among consumers with sales for the particular colour contributing to 30 % of the total sales volume. Launched in 2014, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz presently holds 30 % market share of the mid-sized sedan segment. It competes with stalwarts from Honda and Hyundai such as the City and Verna.
The sedan's two-pedal enabled variants formed 17 % of the car's total sales. Despite the Ciaz being available through Nexa premium channels, the carmaker has been able to maintain a competitive edge, in terms of pricing. It offers a value for money quotient with customers getting premium features such as a touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
