Maruti Suzuki India Hikes Prices of Select Models

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has hiked the prices of its select models from today to tide over the adverse impact of increase in commodity prices and foreign exchange rates. The company said the price change varies across models and ranges up to Rs 10,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi)". However, the company did not specify which car models will become costlier following this price hike.

It may be worth recalling that MSIL had said it will hike its car prices from January 2019, but did not specify the quantum of hike. The company currently offers cars starting from the entry-level Alto 800 to the premium crossover S-Cross priced between Rs 2.53 lakh and Rs 11.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki is not the only Indian company to announce a price hike. Toyota Kirloskar Motor had earlier announced that it would jack up prices of vehicles across models by up to 4 % from January 1, 2019.
