Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) announced today that it has achieved a three-fold jump in water savings at its workshops by adapting to dry wash initiative. The company said it saved over 650 million litres of water in 2018-19 across its workshops, which is 203 % higher against 216 million litres of water saved in 2016-17. Nearly 6.9 million vehicles were washed using dry wash system at Maruti Suzuki workshops in 2018-19, MSIL noted.
The dry wash system has helped to reduce washing time, improve the final wash quality and reduce water consumption, said MSIL. The focus has been in major cities where water scarcity is prevalent, it added. The top six cities that helped to save maximum water to the tune of 160 million litres in 2018-19 were Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune, Nagpur and Chennai.
In addition, on the occasion of World Environment Day, MSIL is offering free pollution check and complimentary dry wash for its customers. This offer is valid till 10 June, 2019.
Partho Banerjee, Executive Director, Service, MSIL, said the company identifies and promotes measures that delight car ownership experience for customers, as well as helps conserve environment. All of MSIL’s service initiatives like dry wash and paperless service experience are designed to enhance customer comfort and convenience without compromising on the environment, he added. Banerjee noted that dry wash at dealer workshops helps the company to do its bit to give back to the society.
