Mercedes-Benz India Ltd (MBIL) has recorded its best sales ever in the first nine months 2015, by registering 34 % growth in period of January-September, 2015 with sales of 10,079 cars. MBIL said this nine-month sales figure is almost the total volume of vehicles sold in 2014, which was 10,201 units. This strong growth has been credited to the performance of the company’s entire portfolio comprising the New Generation Cars, sedans, SUVs, as well as performance cars. The company also announced the launch of its new GLE-Class SUV on 14 October, 2015.
MBIL noted that its luxury sedans, comprising of the new C-Class, E-Class, S-Class and CLA-Class remained key volume contributors, and grew by 39 % for the period of January-September, 2015. Additionally, the company’s SUV portfolio of the GLA, M-Class and GL-Class grew by a strong 70 %, it said. MBIL is also credited with having the largest network presence for any luxury car maker, with 80 outlets in 39 cities, of which 12 were inaugurated in the mentioned period. The company has launched 12 new models this year, and has three more in line.
Roland Folger, Managing Director and CEO, MBIL, said the company’s success run continues as it has sold almost the entire 2014 volumes in the first nine months of 2015. He added that it is good to see the India strategy bearing fruits, and places the company well for entering the fourth quarter with a strong footing. Folger also said the success of the first three quarters has been in line with expectations and makes MBIL confident of achieving its target of a sustainable double digit growth. The company will also redefine the luxury SUV segment with the launch of the new GLE on 14 October, noted Folger.
