At 2,105 unit sales in the month of July 2020, MG Motor India shows considerable growth with a small line-up available in the Indian market
MG Motor India has sold 2,105 units, which is a 40 percent increase as compared to the 1,508 unit sales recorded in July 2019. The numbers show healthy growth considering the small portfolio of vehicles, just two to be precise out of which one is an EV. The recent addition of MG Hector Plus should further aid the brand sell more vehicles in the country. Also, the larger Gloster SUV too will be launched later in the year further increasing choices for MG customers. Preparing to serve its customers in the new normal, MG Motor India introduced its new contact-free technology suite ‘Shield+’ to enhance the customer experience. It continues to follow all sanitisation processes at its facilities to ensure the safety of its customers and employees. The carmaker has also tied up with Medklinn for its Cerafusion sterilisation technology for vehicle cabin sterilisation.
Rakesh Sidana, Director – Sales, MG Motor India, mentions “The overall market environment continues to be challenging with uncertainties due to variable lockdowns in various phases. The component supplies continue to remain impacted especially from the Chennai region. However, despite these challenges, our production has remained at similar levels in July as compared to June 2020 and we expect the situation to improve during the festival season”. MG Motor India and Vadodara-based MAX Ventilators have manufactured over 300 ventilators at the latter's manufacturing plant in Vadodara during July 2020. This represents over 10-fold growth since April when the two companies joined hands to boost the production of ventilators.
