Maruti Suzuki has retained the boxy look of the WagonR, its bold and chiseled exteriors give the hatch a new and robust look, unlike what it has been associated with before. The headlamp cluster retains its squarish proportions but with a new angular outlook. The front grille is features a chrome wing with black surround and looks modern. Sculpted wheel arches lend the hatchback a macho look and offers a contemporary appeal. The new WagonR is also said to be wider than the outgoing model by roughly 143mm.
The engines powering the new WagonR will likely be a 1.2 litre, four cylinder petrol as well as the current three cylinder 1.0 litre unit. The new 1.2 litre engine is from their K-series lineup of motors and will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The new WagonR is thought to also be offered with an AMT option as well.
The new Maruti Suzuki WagonR is based on the fifth generation Suzuki HEARTECT platform. This will offer the hatchback a lighter chassis, which is robust and rigid. It will help Maruti achieve superior fuel efficiency, handling and NVH on the new WagonR.
