NGK Spark Plugs is bracing up to showcase its range of new spark plugs and NTK oxygen sensors at Auto Expo 2018. The company’s product range is innately designed to support newer applications as well as meet the expectations of OEMs. NGK Spark Plugs aims to tap the upcoming surge in demand for spark plugs and oxygen sensors with the advent of BS-VI emission norms.
NGK-Japan decided to invest at its Indian facility in order to make the most of the huge demand for spark plugs in the aftermarket as well as adhere to more strict emission standards for oxygen sensors for motorcycles. The company aims to optimise global production efficiency along with enhancing production capabilities in India.
NGK Spark Plugs will set up an additional production plant in the current plant area. It will double the production capability of spark plugs by 2018, and newly start production of oxygen sensors across India. The capex is expected to be around 100 crores and the company will consider further investment along with the demand expansion. NGK-Japan will further enhance the presence of NGK Spark Plugs in the Indian market that will be expected to grow.
NGK-Japan has turned its attention to creating solid-state batteries, which hold the promise of lighter weight, greater energy storage and faster recharging times for electric vehicles.
