Okinawa Scooters today announced receiving of certificate of eligibility for its Okinawa i-Praise and Okinawa Ridge+ scooters from Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). The company claims that this makes them eligible for incentives under the government's FAME-II scheme.
As per the FAME II scheme, the maximum ex-factory price of an electric two-wheeler of up to Rs 1.5 lakh are eligible to avail of the subsidy. According to the company, all the government parameters have been met by Okinawa products - a speed of around 40km/h, range of about 80 km/charge, 50 per cent localisation and incentivising on the Li-ion battery capacity. An estimated ten lakh electric two wheelers are expected to gain from susbsidy of up to Rs 20,000 under FAME two scheme. These escooters need to be propelled by new advanced technology battery of 2 kWh.
Okinawa Autotech Pvt Ltd Founder and Managing Director Jeetender Sharma, said depending on type of model battery, Okinawa Ridge+ & i-Praise will enjoy a standard subsidy between Rs 17,000 and Rs 26,000.
