Ola received an operating licence from Transport for London (TfL) to launch passenger services in London in the coming weeks
Ola has announced that it has started registering licenced drivers in London as it prepares to launch operations in the city in the coming weeks. It may be noted that the company has received an operating licence from Transport for London (TfL) earlier this year. With this move, over 50,000 licenced drivers can now provide mobility services in London. Drivers can initiate their registration on the Ola app by logging on to the company’s website.
Simon Smith, Head of International, Ola said the company is inviting tens of thousands of PHV drivers across London to register on the Ola platform. Ola has had engaged with authorities, drivers, and local communities in London over the past months, and is now looking forward to contributing towards solving mobility issues in an innovative and meaningful manner, he added.
It may be pertinent to mention that the ride-hailing firm had launched its operations in the UK, starting with Cardiff in August 2018. Ola has been steadily expanding across the country serving millions of users across Birmingham, Liverpool, Exeter, Reading, Bristol, Bath, Coventry, and Warwick – it is already available to serve over 7 million users across 27 boroughs in the UK.
Meanwhile, TWID, a reward-based payment network has partnered with Ola Money to offer its wallet balance on the TWID network. The TWID app pools multiple loyalty/reward points of banks, retail, entertainment, F&B, travel, etc and makes them redeemable for consumers. Ola Money said customers through this association will be able to make purchases at any of the TWID’s partner brands with their Reward Pool, Ola Money wallet and post-paid balance in a single click checkout. Customers can settle the payment made from their Ola postpaid accounts, once in every 15 days, the company noted.
Rishi Batra, Co-Founder & COO, TWID said the company will be introducing single-click checkout through this tie-up, wherein the existing balance of Ola Money Wallet will get clubbed with TWID’s partner reward pool and users will get more buying power. Further, Ola Postpaid will allow extra credit to the users to make a seamless checkout across the TWID network, he added.
Prateek Jindal, Business Head, Ola Financial Services said Ola Money users will have extensive options to use Ola Money along with the consolidated rewards the consumer has, thus ensuring consumer satisfaction.
