Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (PVPL) announced its foray in the nascent Indian electric vehicle (EV) space, rolling out the all-new Ape E-City under the Ape Electrik brand at an introductory price of Rs 197,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company said it will launch its full range of electric vehicles under the Ape Electrik brand in coming times.
The Ape E-City offers a revolutionary driving experience with zero emission as well as zero noise and vibration, the company claimed. Piaggio said the Ape E-City will be equipped with advanced lithium-ion batteries (fixed as well a swapping batteries) and offers a driving range of 60-70 kms. The newest offering from the Piaggio stable comes with automatic gearbox, superior power and torque, full digital cluster, the company noted.
The battery swapping option is one of the highlights of this product -the latter exercise will be carried out with support of Sun Mobility, who will provide Quick Interchange Station Networks to Piaggio customers. Customers can avail app-enabled ecosystem to check battery charge, recharge, location swap stations, etc, Sun Mobility said.
Piaggio also choose the occasion to showcase Ape E-City FX prototype with a fixed battery concept.
Speaking at the the Ape E-City roll-out function, Diego Graffi, MD & CEO, Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited, said the latest roll-out is in line with the company's focus on offering path-breaking solutions to customers. The government's strong focus on EVs and Piaggio's vision of developing innovative EV solutions will turn mass adoption of EVs in the country a reality, he added.
