Aprilia SR 160 cc FI BS 6 scooter to maintain DNA of high-performance, now combined with improved compliance to emission standards
Piaggio India today introduced Fuel Injection technology in its entire Vespa and Aprilia scooter range, in order to comply with BS 6 emission standards. This launch is claimed to be an important milestone towards cleaner technologies for Piaggio India.
The Aprilia SR Range now gets a new high-performance 160 cc engine delivering about 11 hp of peak power. The new FI SR range is said to remain in line with the Aprilia brand ethos of ‘Designed for Racers, Built for Riders,’ along with high compliance to greener technology. Meanwhile, the Aprilia Storm delivers the Aprilia philosophy to its Gen Z customers by complying with greener standards, the company noted.
Diego Graffi, Managing Director and CEO, Piaggio India, said the company is pleased to transition effectively into BS 6 emission norms for its Vespa and Aprilia range of scooters, well ahead of the deadline. Being aligned to the Government’ efforts on emission, Piaggio has achieved significant reduction in emission through its advanced combustion system, he added. Graffi noted that as a global brand, the company understands the need to innovate and evolve, in order to build the mobility for future.
At present, the company successfully integrated BS 6 technology across Vespa and Aprilia brands of scooters and have started rolling out with BS 6 engines, noted Ashish Yakhmi, Head, Two-wheeler business, Piaggio India. He said the upgraded range of scooters are available across dealerships in India.
