Micromax founder Rahul Sharma has launched his new venture Revolt Intellicorp Pvt. Ltd (RIPL) that aims to introduce an artificial intelligence-enabled motorcycle in June later this year. Wholly-owned by Rahul Sharma, it is focussed at making personal mobility practical, affordable and sustainable and will offer a solution that will offer a range of about 155-160km on a single charge, stated the company.
India is the second-largest motorcycle market in the world, with sales dominated by basic commuters. More than 20 million two-wheelers were sold to domestic customers in 2017/18, making it the most popular vehicle category sold in India. Headquartered in Gurgaon, Revolt Intellicorp Pvt. Ltd. has a manufacturing facility in Manesar, Haryana. Spread over 100,000 square feet, the facility boasts of a production capacity of 120,000 vehicles commissioned for Phase one. The company also has an R&D team in place that has been working on the project for the last two years. Started with Sharma’s personal investment, the company will be looking for its first seed investment for stepping up growth.
Rahul Sharma, Founder, RIPL, said there is a huge need for using technology to disrupt urban commute and make it cleaner and sustainable. New-age consumers hate making compromises, and the company is working towards making intelligent vehicles that don’t compromise on the form factor and performance of ICE vehicles, he added.
