Equipped in Citigo iV and Superb iV plug-in hybrid for the UK market, the voice assistant can be directed for certain actions via the mobile application

Skoda UK adds new features to Connect service wherein customers of Citigo iV and Superb iV plug-in hybrid can use Amazon Alexa voice assistant to start/stop battery charging and check range status remotely. For the function to work, customers simply need to ensure their charging cable is connected and use the command “Alexa, ask Skoda, I want to start charging my car”. Similarly, the “Alexa, ask Skoda…” prompt can be utilised to manage all of the new features added to the platform. The list of expansive features for Skoda Connect Alexa Skill 3.0 includes start/stop charging, checking the status of battery and range, remaining charging time, start/stop air conditioning, check last parking spot and more. A remote check feature is able to provide up-to-date data on the vehicle’s health and service requirements.

Alexa voice assistant can also report whether the windows and doors are closed, the lights are off and if the vehicle is locked. To use the assistant, customers require an Amazon account and an Alexa device, through which the Skoda Connect Alexa skill is activated. The vehicle owner then needs to link this skill to their Skoda Connect user account. Vehicle data, both for iV vehicles and traditional petrol and diesel models, can be accessed in all models which are equipped with Skoda Connect and have a mobile internet connection via a SIM card. The service will be available on all iV models, including Octavia iV scheduled to be released later this year. As far as the Indian market is concerned, a long wait is in order.
