Tata Power Solar announced today that it has successfully completed the first solar project of Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts in a record 21 days. The 100 kW rooftop project was undertaken by Tata Power Solar for Toyota’s administrative office building situated in Bidadi industrial estate, near Bangalore. The company manufactured a total of 340 modules for this project, which will generate 1,46,000 units of power, and claims to balance 117 tonnes of CO2 per year.
Ashish Khanna, ED and CEO, Tata Power Solar, said the company is pleased to partner with Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts for this project. He added that this was a particularly stimulating project, given the stringent timelines, and completing it in a record time of 21 days showcased Tata Solar’s project management skills. Adoption of solar power by Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts will help build momentum and could be a possible tipping point for other automotive component manufacturing companies to go green, noted Khanna.
As a responsible corporate citizen, the company remains focused towards energy security and environment, noted KG Mohan Kumar, Joint Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Auto Parts. He said Toyota has always nurtured green initiatives and strongly believes in the power of renewable energy in enabling a more sustainable business process. This plant is a first step in that direction and based on the sustenance and reliability of this, the company will look at further scaling up plans in renewable energy, Kumar added.
