Tata Motors Ltd today announced it has achieved sales of 300,000 units of its Tata Magic last mile public transport vehicle. Tata Motors is claimed to be the most successful manufacturer in the last mile passenger transport vehicle segment with over 85 % market share.
Ravi Pisharody, Executive Director, Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, said the achievement of sales of 300,000 units of Magic testifies the value and trust offered to customers. He added that the Tata Magic has revolutionised the last mile passenger transport segment with a market share of over 85 %.
The Tata Magic was developed on the ACE platform, and was launched in 2007 as India’s first small commercial four-wheeler in last mile public transport. It was designed to offer a comfortable, safe, four-wheeler public transportation mode to urban and rural areas in a segment which was dominated by three-wheel passenger carriers, Tata Motors said. The Magic family currently comprises of the Magic Diesel (BS3 and BS4), Magic CNG (BS4), Magic Iris Diesel (BS3 and BS4) and Magic Iris CNG (BS4).
The Tata Magic is also sold through all Tata Motors dealerships, including the company’s rural Marketing initiative for commercial vehicles, known as NEEV. This is a detailed rural program with exclusive focus on villages of India, the company noted. The Tata Magic is also exported to 20 countries across SAARC nations and African countries.
