Toyota Kirloskar Motor in association with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) conducted a seminar on “Towards Responsible Mobility for Safe, Sustainable and Green Society” in New Delhi. The seminar was inaugurated by Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Babul Supriyo. Delivering his inaugural address, Supriyo stressed on the need to create a safer and sustainable environmental framework. He added that electrical vehicles are capital-intensive initially but their cost of operation would be significantly lower in the long run.
Shekhar Viswanath, Chairman, FICCI Electric Vehicle Committee & Vice Chairman & Whole-time Director, Toyoto Kirloskar Motor, said the global automotive industry, including India, is passing through unprecedented changes and is facing challenges in shifting to alternate energy sources away from fossil oil. The need of the hour is lower the adverse impact of the environment and make vehicles that are smarter and cleaner, he noted.
The seminar was attended by representatives from the government, research institutes, academia, testing agencies & industry bodies as well as non-government organisations.
