Triumph Motorcycles India today announced the launch of its Tiger Explorer XCx adventure motorcycle at Rs 18.75 lakh, pan-India. The company said the new Tiger Explorer XCx comes with more power, performance and torque, along with a host of technological upgrades and new rider-focused, active technology.
The updated Triumph Tiger Explorer XCx is powered by a three-cylinder, 1,215 cc engine, which delivers power through a final shaft drive. The engine puts out maximum power of 135 hp, with peak torque of 121 Nm, and features ride-by-wire throttle control. The motorcycle is equipped with a torque-assisted clutch that makes the clutch action light, in turn making both long distances and stop-start urban riding less demanding on the rider. The Tiger Explorer XCx also comes with a new exhaust system.
Triumph said that the new Tiger Explorer features technological upgrades with particular emphasis on active technology to ensure high level of stability and control. These features include semi-active suspension; corner optimised switchable ABS and traction control; and rider modes, including a rider programmable mode. While the two entry-level Tiger Explorer models receive WP adjustable suspension, the other four models feature Triumph’s semi active suspension system. This semi active suspension system allows the rider to electronically-control adjustment of the front and rear suspension damping, automatically adapting the rear shock absorber pre-load settings for the appropriate terrain.
The Explorer is said to feature an Inertial Measurement Unit, which monitors and responds to bike movement through a series of sensors. This unit calculates the lean angle of the motorcycle and uses this measurement to ensure greater stability by optimising the performance of the ABS and traction control systems. This is enhanced with the option of the three rider modes – Sports; Comfort; and Normal – which alter the configuration of the motorcycle to suit riding style, road and weather conditions.
The Tiger Explorer XCx features sharp new lines in terms of external styling, giving it a stylish and muscular look and delivering enhanced rider and passenger thermal comfort. Triumph introduces first-in-class electrically-adjustable front screen that allows the rider to constantly adjust aero protection and comfort while riding. The motorcycle comes with cruise control, spoked wheels, 12V power sockets, 5V under-seat USB socket, heated grips, hand guards, aluminium sump guard, radiator guard, engine bars and fog lamps.
Vimal Sumbly, Managing Director, Triumph Motorcycles India Pvt Ltd, said the Tiger family has played a key role in building the adventure riding category and culture in India. As the pioneer in this category, the Tiger Explorer XCx with its next-generation features and rider-focused technology is suited for both on and off-road riding, ensuring great stability and control, he added.
