TVS Motor Company today launched the Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0, with advanced ‘Anti-Reverse Torque (A-RT) Slipper Clutch’ technology, at Rs 95,185, ex-showroom Delhi, for the carburettor version. The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0 electronic fuel injection (EFI) variant is priced at Rs 1.08 lakh, and the variant featuring carburettor with ABS at Rs 1.09 lakh, both ex-showroom Delhi. The motorcycle is equipped with a fly-screen for enhanced aerodynamics, and also sports new racing-inspired graphics.
The Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0 is the first motorcycle in its class to be equipped with the A-RT Slipper Clutch, said TVS. It added that this is a race-derived technology, which acts as a testimony to the racing DNA of the RTR 200 4V engine. The A-RT Slipper Clutch is claimed to accentuate the motorcycle’s performance, with 22 % reduction in clutch force for quicker upshifts, enabling the rider to achieve better lap times.
TVS noted that the clutch technology also aims at ensuring rider safety in high-speed downshifts, avoids wheel-hopping while cornering, and improves vehicle stability with the back-balance torque limiter effect. Introduction of the Slipper Clutch in the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0, also promises sharp and precise gear shifts with minimal effort, the company said.
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0 continues to be powered by a 197.75 cc, single-cylinder engine that is mated to a five-speed gearbox. The engine develops 20.2 hp (carburettor)/21.7 hp (EFI) of maximum power at 8,500 rpm, with 18.1 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.
Arun Siddharth, Vice President (Marketing) – Premium Two-Wheelers, International Business and TVS Racing, said the company builds race machines for performance enthusiasts and the Apache series is a testimony to its 35-year racing heritage. The Apache RTR 200 4V Race Edition 2.0, takes the racing experience up a notch with the A-RT Slipper Clutch, which is a first in this segment, he added. “The entire TVS Apache RTR 200 4V range will don the dynamic racing-inspired decals along with a stylish and exclusively-designed fly screen, which is sure to accentuate the racing stance of the motorcycle,” said Siddharth.
