Volkswagen Passenger Cars India has introduced a new 1 l, MPI petrol engine for its Polo hatchback, prices for which have been unchanged at Rs 5.42 lakh, ex-showroom, for the Trendline variant. The company said that the 1.2 l, MPI petrol engine across the VW India product offerings will be replaced by the 1 l, MPI engine.
VW India said the new engine option will enhance the appeal of the Polo, addressing the changing customer preference for more fuel-efficient cars and augmented product offerings. The new 1 l, MPI petrol engine develops peak power of about 75 hp and maximum torque of 95 Nm. The new petrol engine in the Polo now offers an improved ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 18.78 km/l without compromising on performance, noted VW India.
