The automaker is set to launch four new SUVs in 2020-21; February to witness the first showcase of EV based on the MEB platform, the world premiere of A0 SUV under Group’s India 2.0 project
Volkswagen Passenger Cars India has announced that it will launch four new SUVs in the country over a period of two years. It said these vehicles will be unveiled at the upcoming Auto Expo 2020, which is Volkswagen’s biggest SUV offensive in the Indian market. The company will also showcase its electric vehicle based on the state-of-the-art MEB platform at the Auto Expo 2020 under Group’s India 2.0 project.
In February, Volkswagen India will carry out the world premiere of the A0 SUV. the German automaker plans to focus heavily on introducing its global line-up of SUVs to the Indian market, owing to the ever-increasing consumer preferences for this vehicle segment. The Volkswagen expects each of these carlines to democratise the market in their respective segments, by keeping the brand’s core USP of build quality, safety and fun-to-drive element.
Steffen Knapp, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said the company understands the rapidly-changing preferences of Indian consumers and in-line with the same will introduce one of the biggest SUV-offensive portfolios for the Indian shores. Always keeping safety at the forefront, the upcoming carlines will re-define their respective segments, addressing the needs of the discerning Indian consumers, he added. Knapp further said that Volkswagen received tremendous response for its current SUV Volkswagen Tiguan in India, and with the planned portfolio the company expects to define it further.
