Yamaha has introoduced the MT15 street sport motorcycle for the Indian market. The new Yamaha MT15 has been priced in India for Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The bike comes powered by a 155cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine and features a digital instrument cluster.
The new Yamaha MT15 comes into the segment rivaling the likes f the Apache RTR 160, Honda XBlade and others. The MT15 with its liquid cooled engine is capable of producing 19.3 PS of power and 14.7 Nm of torque. The single cylinder engine on the MT15 comes with Yamaha’s VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) setup that allows a cam switch for enhanced performance. This setup is similar to the being offered on the Yamaha R15 V3.
Along with performance, the Japanses two wheeler manufacturer is offering a single channel ABS setup on this bike. The front features a 282 mm disc brake with a dual piston brake caliper manufactured by ByBre. The rear features a 220 mm disc. The rider seat height on the new Yamaha MT15 is set lower than the R15 making it comfortable to ride. Along side these additions, Yamaha has also offered a model-specific ECU on the MT15 as well as an optimised secondary reduction gear ratio for snappy riding. Other kit includes an A&S clutch, 1400 mm wide rear tire and a gear shift indicator on the instrument cluster.
