India Yamaha Motor (IYM) Pvt Ltd has announced that it has achieved its production milestone of 10 mn cumulative units in India. The company said it has achieved this feat since it began its operations in India in 1985, with IYM’s three manufacturing facilities at Surajpur, Faridabad and Chennai jointly contributing to this achievement. The 10 millionth product rolled out was a Yamaha FZS-FI Version 3.0 motorcycle from its Chennai factory.
The company also achieved another milestone, of producing 5 mn units alone in last seven years between 2012 and 2019. The scooter models in this period contributed to 44 % of the overall production with ‘Fascino’ being the major contributor, it said. The motorcycle models contributed to 77.88 lakh units produced, whereas the scooter models contributed to 22.12 lakh units.
Motofumi Shitara, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies, said this landmark achievement is a testimony of the company’s growing popularity and demand for its products. This would not have been possible without the support of employees, dealer partners, suppliers and vendors, he added. Shitara further said that going forward, IYM we will continue to excite its customers and empower their lives through world class products and services.
